MALAYSIA’S RESILIENCE DURING COVID-19 CRISIS – CONGRATULATIONS TO MALAYSIA’S 8th PRIME MINISTER, TAN SRI MUHYIDDIN YASSIN

We, at Institut Masa Depan Malaysia (MASA), are extremely pleased with the heartening news of Malaysia being ranked as the top country in Southeast Asia for its exceptional resilience amid the COVID-19 challenges as reported in the World Bank’s comprehensive report, titled “Building Malaysia’s Resilience: Lessons from Covid-19’s Economic Impacts and Policy Responses.”

The World Bank said Malaysia leads the way in a survey which included several other ASEAN member states.

We wish to extend our deepest congratulations to Malaysia’s 8th Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, for his proven exemplary leadership in facing and handling the unprecedented global health crisis. Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s steadfast determination, vision and strategic approach have been instrumental and pivotal in making it possible for Malaysia to achieve this remarkable milestone.

Today, as we reflect upon this momentous achievement, we also acknowledge the countless frontline heroes, healthcare professionals, essential workers and volunteers whose unwavering dedication and commitment have been instrumental in overcoming the pandemic’s challenges.

The World Bank’s recognition of Malaysia is a testament to the nation’s collective efforts in safeguarding public health, mitigating economic disruptions and fostering societal resilience. The report highlights the effectiveness of Malaysia’s policy responses and economic measures, underpinned by the decisive actions and empathetic leadership.

As the world continues to grapple with the pandemic’s far-reaching impacts, Malaysia’s resilience stands as a shining example for other nations to emulate. The lessons learned from this crisis will, undoubtedly, shape our future policies and strategies, and strengthen our ability to tackle any future pandemic and crises.
